Tahrir Cinema
A project by the Mosireen collective during the Egyptian revolution of 2011. It involved setting up an open-air cinema in Tahrir Square, where footage from protests and clashes, captured by activists and citizen journalists, was screened for the public. The project aimed to create a space for collective memory and alternative narratives that countered the state-controlled media. By showcasing real-time events and testimonies, “Tahrir Cinema” empowered people through visual documentation, fostering a shared sense of resistance and solidarity.
