SISTORIES
Sistories is a queer Black feminist/womanist literary organization that centers the power of storytelling as a tool for ancestral healing, community building, and resistance. Rooted in the experiences of Southern Black women, femmes, and gender-expansive individuals, Sistories produces zines that allow participants to explore themes of recovery, resilience, and liberation.
The zine is interactive, providing prompts for readers to engage with in order to urge reflection on their personal stories. Complementing their zine is Sib’s Sofa, a platform where writers, artists, and community members gather for intimate conversations and audio recordings of texts from the magazine, creating a communal space for connection and dialogue. Additionally, the group hosts community writing workshops and story sharing circles, nurturing the creative and holistic spirits of Southern Black women and femme writers while fostering a sense of solidarity and empowerment.
