Los Fantasmas Artist Collective

Los Fantasmans is an artist collective founded in the 1990s by Carlos Fresquez, Tony Diego, Ismaels Lozano, and Josian Lopez in response to the marginalization of BIPOC artists within the Colorado art scene. The name “Fantasmas” means “ghosts” in Spanish, alluding to the unseen and overlooked. The collective was established to address the systematic disparities faced by artists of color and provide them with venues to showcase their work and gain visibility within the art world.

Today, Los Fantasmas continues to foster multigenerational and diverse communities within Colorado. The collective creates a space for critical reflection and artistic expression, encouraging individuals to engage with the world and art around them.
