Chto Delat

Chto Delat sees itself as an artistic cell and also as a community organizer for a variety of cultural activities intent on politicizing knowledge production. The activities of the collective takes responsibility for a postsocialist condition and actualization of forgotten and repressed potentiality of the Soviet past and often works as a politics of commemoration.

The collective makes a strong focus on the issue of cultural workers’ labor rights and politics of comradeship.

The Slow Orientation in Zapatism (2017-)
Since 2016, the Chto Delat collective has focused on researching and interpreting Zapatista ideas and their influence on communities across Europe. Working within the tradition of engaged research, they explore how these ideas shape collective relationships, environmental interactions, and resistance to capitalism. This project has resulted in three educational films set in Russia, Italy, and Greece, along with a published book and several exhibitions based on their archive. These exhibitions have been showcased at institutions like the Centre Pompidou, Kunsthalle Wien, and Museo Reina Sofia.
