The Mapping Artistic Activism Project (MAAP) is a living digital archive of collectives, organizations and networks engaged in the emerging field of artistic activism in different regions around the world.
Our goal is to identify connections between actors across territories and detail the challenges practitioners face as they describe them. The MAAP will allow us to understand the ecosystem of artistic activism and the main tendencies defining its growth.
We are currently under an initial phase of development and testing from 2023-2025, working with preliminary data generated by the MAAP Working Group of the Artistic Activism Research CoLab on 2023-2024.
You are invited to submit information about collectives, organizations, and networks involved in artistic activism for inclusion in the MAAP.
This project has been developed with the support of The Center for Artistic Activism, a Digital Humanities Grant, a Steinhardt Faculty Challenge Grant, and a Gallatin Co-Lab Research Class Grant from New York University.
