Decolonize this Place

Decolonize This Place (DTP) is an action-oriented movement and decolonial formation in New York City and beyond, facilitated by the MTL+ Collective. Rooted in anti-colonial, anti-imperial, anti-patriarchal, and anti-capitalist struggles, DTP challenges settler colonial structures and builds infrastructure for collective liberation.

The movement encompasses organizing, research, aesthetics, and action, with a focus on the interconnected struggles against oppression. DTP operates within diverse spaces such as universities, museums, and cities, redefining them as sites of resistance, sanctuary, and freedom.

Featured Project

Decolonize Whitney Museum
Decolonize This Place (DTP) actively engages with Whitney Biennial artists and staff in their Whitney Museum project by supporting those opposing Warren Kanders and organising discussions aimed to pressure the museum to remove Kanders. DTP recognizes these efforts as a start to their broader issues with art institutions and anti-colonialism.
